Dance Recital

Today was Zuri's first ever dance recital!! Stage 1 Dance Academy holds its annual recital at the Murat.  Big time, I know!!

We had an in-studio rehearsal Tuesday and then the dress rehearsal at the Murat Friday. The dress rehearsal made today much easier, logistically speaking. :o)

Allie came over to do Zuri's hair and Zuri fell asleep after the rollers were put in. After about 20 minutes, Allie removed the rollers while Zuri still slept. :)
She ended up waking up and Allie finished the 'do. It was super cute!

We left to head downtown.
Bree went backstage with me and helped me get Zuri ready. Zuri enjoyed looking at herself in the mirror. :)
After Zuri was ready, Bree and I went upstairs to our seats. Zuri was in good hands with the backstage mom volunteers!

The girls did a fabulous job!  It was tutu cute!!  ;o)  In fact, the entire recital was fabulous!  The Stage 1 staff did a phenomenal job.

I didn't get pictures during her dance, but I did get a couple during the finale.

After the finale, I picked Zuri up on stage and snapped a picture of her with Ms. Lauren, her dance teacher.
Then it was off to the lobby for more pictures!!

Ms. Katie, the Studio Director.
Bree.
Grandpa and Grandma Schulz.
Papaw John.
Jinger, Lili, Sunny, Kari, and Grandma Gill.
Aunt Brandii.
Mommy and Daddy. We are very proud of her. She was great!
Time to change out of the recital costume!

Zuri showed off her medal. She is very proud of it.
We saw Miss Kendall outside. She's one of the assistants in Zuri's class.
Time to go to the car. Zuri wanted a ride on daddy's shoulders. They were being silly.
We went to dinner with Papaw John and Grandma Andrea. We ran into Eric, Karen, and Trevor.  After dinner, we took Bree home and then we went home. Zuri was beyond tired. We let her go straight to bed.

Thank you to everyone who made it out to Zuri's recital. We appreciate it. Big thanks to Stage 1 for an awesome recital. Also, shout out to the backstage moms that kept the girls occupied before and after the routine.

4....Going On 14!

Zuri always says things that make me wonder, "Where in the world did she come up with that?"  Today was no different.  Here are a few examples:

On the way to school, we had this conversation:

Zuri: Mommy, why is moon out?
Me: The moon isn't out.
Zuri: Yes it is, see?  The sun has spots and the moon doesn't so that's the moon.
Me: The sun does not have spots and the moon does so that is the sun you are seeing.
Zuri: Don't you remember on Peppa Pig when the moon was out and Peppa said the moon didn't have spots?  So.....my question to you is: why is the moon out?
Me: {cursing Peppa Pig in my head} Zuri, despite what Peppa Pig said, that is in fact the sun you are seeing.

After picking her up from in-studio recital rehearsal:

Zuri: Mom, why is Dad here?
Me: I picked him up.
Zuri: You aren't supposed to leave me here.  That's not very nice.
Me: Ms. Katie said I could leave because you were busy with your rehearsal.
Zuri: Well, that's not very nice.

While eating a cookie at the mall, I asked Zuri for a bite:

Zuri: You can't have a bite.
Me: Just one little bite?
Zuri: {Hands me a small bite - see picture below} You get one bite.  Here.

After using the restroom at the mall, she was getting under my skin so I took off ahead of her and Brent. I heard her say, "Mommy, are you still mad at me?"  Brent said some lady looked at Zuri like, "Awwww." I told her I was just frustrated, not mad at her.  Then she stopped at the rides and I said, "Come on."  I kept walking towards Von Maur.  Brent was with Zuri and they weren't that far behind me.  Once I am inside Von Maur, I hear, "Mommy!  Wait!!  Stop!!"  I turn around and Zuri said, "You can't run away from me!"  Again, there were 4 people there who heard her.  I probably seemed like mother of the year!  lol

I swear she has been invaded by a teenager!!!

While watching a show at home after the mall, she saw an informercial for some indoor gym.  She told us she wants an indoor gym because she "can't always play outside when it's raining" and "mommy and daddy are not too busy."  She said she can't order it though "because the TV said she has to be 18 or older to order and I am not 18 yet."  :o)

Birthday Party Weekend

We had 2 birthdays to celebrate this weekend. Saturday, we celebrated Ayla's 7th birthday at Franklin Skate Club. Zuri was excited to get out there.

Ready to go!
Cassie helped her out.
Daddy got out there too.
We all sang to Ayla.
Zuri got to the point she didn't want to hold anyone's hand.
After skating, Zuri wanted to ride the motor bike.
All that skating wore her out.

Today, we celebrated Alana's 4th birthday at her house. Zuri enjoyed playing with all the kids!

Duck, Duck, Goose!
Zuri was obsessed with Elyana!
Kiddos ready for cupcakes!
Shay enjoyed hers. :o)
Group photo. They did a great job getting along today.

Friday Fun

We went to dinner with Julie, Justin, Allie, Scotty, and Ayla for Ayla's birthday.

Birthday girl!
Scotty wore the sombrero so Zuri would. Zuri still wouldn't wear it though. :o)
I wanted a picture of me and Zuri.
And Julie!
Then Zuri said she wanted to take a picture of herself. Preparing for the blog, I found these!!!
Scotty, Zuri, and Ayla.

After dinner it was time to go see Kyle, Amber, Emerson, and LB!

The kids loved taking turns pulling the wagon.  Here is LB pulling Zuri and Emerson.
Emerson wouldn't stand still for a picture so.......
LB, Emerson, and Zuri. So cute!

We had a great night!
