Doc McZuri

We had to take Zuri to the doctor again yesterday.  She's becoming all too familiar with the medical devices (watching Doc McStuffins probably helps too!).  She pointed to the instruments for looking in your ears and eyes and said, "eyes, eyes, eyes".....she wanted us to look at her eyes!  She loves the tongue depressors.  She insists on having one at every visit.  Then she tells Mommy or Daddy to "say ahhhh".  :o)

Here she is playing around on the table.  She liked hearing the paper crunch.

Weekend Update

Zuri got her first taste of Starbucks on Saturday when she saw Daddy's Chai Tea Frappuccino a/k/a Ice Cream Man.  Zuri has been calling ice cream "Ice Cream Man" for the past few days.  I think she does it because of an episode of Caillou where Caillou and his friends go get ice cream from the Ice Cream Man.  Anyway, she wanted to try it and Daddy let her.  She was hooked after the first sip.  See what I mean?!
Zuri also enjoyed being mean to Mommy by giving Daddy lots and lots of kisses.  In fact, Friday night, Zuri told me no when I asked for a kiss and then ran over to Daddy, turned back to make sure I was watching, and gave him tons of kisses!  She did that all weekend.  Here are some pictures from today when she was doing it.  She's rotten - look at her face in the middle picture!!
Zuri loves Daddy's "Indiana Jones" hat as he calls it.  She gets it out of the closet all the time.  She can pull it off.  ;o)
Today was Lila's birthday party at Bounce Spot.  Zuri had never been.  She had fun although I think she is still a little to small for most of it.  The bigger kids weren't thrilled with waiting on her.  She loved this slide.  We didn't think she would do it but she proved us wrong.  She insisted on going down on her belly!!!
I just love this picture.  She would put her sunglasses on and then push them onto her head like Mommy does.  She didn't quite get them up the way Mommy does but still super cute!!

While at the store on Saturday, we decided to try the Mott's applesauce in a squeeze bag.  We thought it would be a nice snack to take in the car.  We just bought 1 package (4 bags) because we didn't know if Zuri would like it or not.  She LOVES them!!!

We have just over a month before Zuri's 2nd birthday and I haven't completely decided what I want to do for it.  Ahhhhh!!!  I need to get going on the planning!!!  I can't believe Princess Zuri will be 2.

Keep Your Eyes On The Road........

Zuri's favorite game is "Money in the Bank".  This game entails Mommy and/or Daddy and/or any other sucker person giving Zuri coins to put in the piggy bank that Papaw John made for her.  Zuri wanted to play the game after dinner Friday.  After playing, she insisted on putting on her dress shoes.  As soon as she did, she wanted to go bye-bye.  We ended up just driving around the neighborhood.  On the way back to the house, Zuri wanted to drive.  Here she is "driving" in our driveway.

I told her to keep her eyes on the road and she immediately turned to me and stared. Then she took her hands off the wheels. Good thing we were parked and even better that she has 14 more years before she can legally drive!

After Zuri went to sleep Friday, I had dinner with my friend, Angela.  We also did some shopping.  I scored some super cute items at Children's Place for Zuri....each for only $2.99.

Here's her hat.....

This morning at Target, I found some cute boots on sale for Zuri to go with the outfits I bought at Children's Place.

Here they are....with the Children's Place hat.  I know she will hate me later for this picture, but I think it's adorable!  :o)

The shirt and leggings were a Children's Place deal.  I told you, super cute.

Uncle Eric took this picture of Daddy and Zuri.  I love how they have the same look --- sort of like "Come on, put the camera down."  HA!!

Not-So-Wordless Wednesday

Today was Zuri's surgery to insert ear tubes and possible adenoidectomy.  We had to be at the hospital at 7:30.  Good thing because almost as soon as she woke up, Zuri was asking to eat.

Here she is watching Caillou while Mommy was getting ready.  Yes, those are Christmas PJs and yes, she only has 1 sock on and it's a Christmas sock.  Don't judge....  :o)

We got to the hospital and changed into the gown.  Papaw John, Mamaw Andrea, Mamaw Terri, and Aunt Brandii were all there to see the Princess.  Zuri wasn't sure what to think at first.  She just stared at everyone.  She was probably wondering why everyone was there and what was going to happen.  She did really well though.  We watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on the TV and Doc McStuffins on my iPhone.

When the nurse came in to take Zuri back, she started crying.  She went back with her soft blanket and her Elmo doll.  We were taken to a consultation room.  It seemed like we had just got drinks and snacks when the doctor came in to tell us that she did great.  She had a lot of fluid in her ears so the doctor said she should hear better immediately (not that we ever noticed this to be a problem) and her adenoids were "very large" so she removed those.  We had to wait a little longer for Zuri to come out of anesthesia before we could go back and see her.  When the nurse came to get us, we couldn't get to Zuri fast enough.  We could hear her crying/screaming from a few rooms down.  She was very irritable and confused and just didn't feel well.  This was normal since she was under anesthesia for such a short time.  We had to wait in recover for close to 2 hours because she didn't want to eat or drink anything and was very irritable.  Here's a picture after recovery.  I won't post the picture Daddy took of her crying in my arms.  :o(

By about 10:30, Zuri was finally ready to eat and drink.  She had an entire container of applesauce, a package of fruit snacks, and water.  She was ready to go.  We had to take her IV bag and walk around the hall with her!  By just after lunch, she was pretty much her normal self.  Here she is with Daddy's iPad.

Since she didn't nap after we got home, she was in bed by 5:50 tonight.  Hopefully she can rest and get a good night's sleep.  Aunt Junie is watching her for us tomorrow and Aunt Julie on Friday!

Mi Nina Inteligente

I had no idea Zuri could count in Spanish.  She just started counting so I had to grab my phone to take video!  She wouldn't do it at first, of course, and then would only count to 6.  :o)  She amazes us daily!

Surgery....

Zuri has to have surgery on the 16th to put tubes in her ears and potentially remove her adenoids. :( I worked from home today to stay with her and go to the ENT. Here's a picture of her during nap. Isn't she precious?!

Happy New Year!

This is how we have spent our first morning of 2013 so far! :o)
