Fun-Filled Weekend

Zuri and I had Saturday to ourselves since Daddy went to Munster, Indiana for Dark Lord Beer Day.  If you don't know what it is, imagine all the rage about the Twilight Saga but instead of a bunch of teenagers (okay, and maybe 30-somethings...), it's a bunch of guys!  Anyway, we had a very busy day planned.  We went to breakfast before heading downtown for the Matt Breman Memorial Run/Walk to benefit The Villages (http://www.villageskids.org/).  Zuri did better than I expected.  She actually sat in the stroller for most of the walk.  She did get out once to push the stroller herself and to look at the ducks.

After the walk, we met Jenn for lunch at Scotty's.

It was nap time after lunch.  Then Grandma Newbold came over.  Aunt Brandii and Jeremy came over later too.  We hung out and ate pizza.

Zuri was in bed by 7:30 and Mommy read until about 10:30.  This morning, Zuri and I hung out in bed for a few minutes before breakfast. 

We went to church with Aunt Amanda, Mindy, Jack, and Claire.  After church, we met Andy for lunch and Daddy!  Breeanna came over and watched Zuri while Mommy and Daddy did a little shopping (Mommy's probably getting an iPhone 5 on Wednesday and Daddy's getting Mommy's 4S)!!!  No pictures from lunch or Bree's visit.  :(

First Visit to Church

Since Zuri has been singing Jesus Loves Me more and more, I thought now was a good time to start going to church.  I did not grow up in a church and we are not members at any church.  We decided to go where my brother-in-law and sister-in-law go; Mount Pleasant Christian Church.  Today was our first day going.  It was just me and Zuri because Daddy was helping Papaw with the swing set.  Zuri was very excited to go to "church with Claire Bear".  Zuri did great.  She went right on in the room with Claire.  When the service was over, Jon and I went to pick up the kiddos and Zuri was doing just fine.  She even colored a picture.  She told me she had fun and that they talked about Jesus and they colored and she wants to go back to "church with Claire Bear".

After church, we went to pick up lunch for Daddy and Papaw.  Zuri wanted a some Jolly Rancher pop thing so I compromised and let her have a Ring Pop.  ;o) 

We got home and ate lunch and played on the partially built swing set.  Here's Papaw and Zuri playing. 

After lunch, Zuri and Mommy took a nap while Daddy went to a friend's dad's Celebration of Life.  After our nap, we had to rush to Reece's and Vance's birthday party.  We may have been about an hour late!!!  Zuri didn't like it when I picked up Drew.  She made me pick her up and then she wanted to hold Drew.  So cute!!

We had lunch with Rachelle today.  Zuri enjoyed showing off her new Hello Kitty watch that Daddy bought her.  Zuri also enjoyed the Reese's Pieces that Rachelle gave her.  :o)

Uncle Randy and Aunt Tammy stopped by tonight.  Zuri kept saying Uncle Randy was silly.  She's right.

When I got home, Daddy and Zuri were playing outside.  I cooked dinner and we ate out on the deck.  We stayed outside until Zuri's bedtime (or maybe a little after her bedtime...).  Zuri's favorite part of the evening?  Playing with the water hose!!!!  She loved getting Mommy and Daddy all wet.  We all had a blast.  I can't wait for more nights like this.  Too bad it's supposed to storm most of the week.  Here are some pics and a video from tonight.



 

Sunday....Funday!!

Today, Papaw John came over to help Daddy with the swingset.  While they worked on that, Zuri and I went shopping and met Aunt Julie and Uncle Kenny for lunch.  After a little more shopping and a cupcake run, Zuri and I went home.  Zuri ate her cupcake and took a nice nap.  Uncle Kenny had joined Daddy and Papaw at this point to help with the swingset.  After Zuri's nap, she helped Papaw a little bit and then we left to meet Tony, Anthony, Breeanna, and Paige at the park.  After dinner, Zuri wanted to go play on the swingset (it's not done, but she wanted to play with what has been assembled!).  Our friend and neighbor, Cassie came by with her friend Brian.  Zuri was shy at first and then she was her normal self after a few minutes.  :)

Here's what we've been up to the past couple days.

Friday morning, I walked in to get Zuri up and she immediately stood up and said, "Daddy hiding in the bed?"  I told her Daddy was at work and she argued with me.  I finally said, "Okay, Daddy's hiding in the bed."  She soon realized I was right.  :o)  My aunt thought she was politely asking me to leave her room.  I wouldn't put that past her.  Ha!

After dinner, we stopped at Dairy Queen for ice cream.  Zuri loved it!

Today, Zuri and I had lunch and went to the mall with Aunt Julie, Uncle Kenny, Aunt Lisa, and Adam.  After nap, we went to the Hensons' for dinner and playtime.  The girls had fun!

Fun with Papaw John

Brent and I went to Columbus, Ohio for a concert on Saturday night.  We decided to stay overnight and have our first evening away together since Zuri was born 2 years ago!  My dad, Papaw John, stayed at our house with Zuri.  Brent and I had a good time and Zuri and Papaw did too.  I don't even think Zuri knew we were gone.  LOL  On Sunday, Aunt Julie picked Zuri up and took her to Alana's birthday party.  Brent and I went straight to the party from Columbus.  Zuri was definitely happy to see us and we were happy to see her.  Zuri was off schedule so when we tried putting her to bed, she threw such a fit that she threw up.....A LOT!  We had to do laundry and take another bath.  After the 2nd bath and a few more books, she was ready to lay down and cover up. 

I'd say our first night away together was a huge success!!
