Feeling Better

Zuri is finally starting to feel a little better. Her cough is still pretty bad and it keeps her up quite a bit at night. Overall though, she's better.

Sick Baby.......

The past few days have not been our best.  Zuri's cold turned into her not eating or drinking.  We were worried about dehydration so we went to the ER last night --- in the crazy snow.  Thankfully my dad has a diesel truck and came up here to pick us up and take us a couple miles down the road to the ER.  After getting medicine for nausea, Zuri finally ate applesauce and had some water.  Most importantly, she kept it down.  We were discharged and advised to follow up with her pediatrician the next day (today).  We saw the pediatrician this morning and found out Zuri has a double ear infection.  I have no idea how her ears could have looked fine Monday and yesterday and now infected, but the doctor said it's common.  We have numbing drops to help with the pain which should help her want to eat.  We also are on antibiotics.  She didn't do much today other than sleep.  She ate some applesauce a couple hours before bed and had close to 14 ounces of water throughout the day.  We are hoping she turns the corner tomorrow after having a day's worth of antibiotics in her.  I am thankful to my bosses for being so understanding about this an allowing me to work from home today (I made it in for an hour before I had to leave for the appointment).

Merry Christmas!!

We hope everyone had a good Christmas.  We stayed inside today with a sick Princess.  She started to not feel well Saturday night.  We ended up taking her to the doctor yesterday to check to see if she had an ear infection or anything else.  The doctor said she had a cold.  Zuri didn't eat or drink much at all today.  She mostly laid on me or Brent.  She did play a little bit as you will see below.  What a crappy way to spend Christmas.  I hope our little Princess starts to feel better real soon.

Here are some pictures from the various gatherings we had this past weekend and today.  Saturday, we had Mamaw Newbold, Aunt Brandii, and Jeremy over for lunch.  Then we went to Uncle Ron's and Aunt Dina's.  Sunday, we hung out at Uncle Jon's and Aunt Amanda's for Jon's birthday.  Grandma and Grandpa Gill brought over gifts then.  Monday, Papaw and Mamaw Schulz came over for lunch and then we went to Ralph Sr.'s and Lane's for dinner.  Today, we stayed home but had visitors: Aunt Julie, Uncle Kenny, Aunt Junie, Papaw John, and Mamaw Andrea.  I'm exhausted just recapping what we did!!! 

We are waiting to see what the weather ends up doing tomorrow --- we may have a snow day.

The Christmas Festivities Have Begun!

Saturday kicked off our Christmas Festivities.  We went to the Annual Christmas Cookie Decorating Contest hosted by Ralph & Lane Gonzalez.  We started keeping track of the winners in 2007 and have a plaque with the winners' names on it.  Brent tried saying I don't like decorating, but I had to remind him that my name is on that plague.....not his!  :o)  Anyway, Zuri wanted to help mommy decorate a cookie.  Here's a picture of her hard at work.

 Here is a picture of the entries.  I think they all turned out great!  Mariella won with her Santa cookie (minus the head, arms, and legs!).

After the contest, we took off to go to Uncle Eric's and Aunt Karen's for Christmas dinner.  Zuri was interested in the presents, but when it came time to actually open hers, she was not into it so much.  Eric, Karen, and Trevor bought Zuri a puppy (that sheds just like a real one!).

Today, I went shopping with Aunt Julie while Zuri and Daddy went to Uncle Jon's and Aunt Amanda's for a play date.  Zuri would not take a nap the entire time they were there.  She ended up falling asleep on their way home at about 4:15.  She woke up at 5:30 just in time for dinner.  She was in a zombie-like state for quite some time.  :o)

Breakfast With Santa

We went to Breakfast with Santa with Shane, Rachael, Lila, Alana, Regina, and Vicky.  After she was done eating, Zuri decided to check out the chair Santa would be sitting in.

 Then Santa came out.  This was Zuri's face when she saw him.  :o)

Zuri would NOT sit on Santa's lap.  She clung to me.  She had no problem saying "bye-bye" to him though.  LOL
