This blog will be about our daughter, Zuri, and all of her achievements and milestones. This will also allow me to keep friends and family updated with pictures and other news about Zuri even if it's not an achievement or milestone!

Happy Memorial Day
We had a visit from Andy on Sunday. Zuri was napping when Andy first got here so it took her a minute to warm up to him.
Mommy, why are you letting him hold me?? |
Look what I can do! |
I remember when Mommy and Daddy would put this on my head. |
I'm thirsty, gimme water!!! |
I'll take some ice now. |
I'm the cutest fireman in this place. |

Miss Elena
Friday was Miss Elena's last day at daycare. She's going back home to be with her family. While we will miss her very dearly, we also know she needs to be with her family right now. We want to be selfish and keep her here, but we can't. Miss Elena, you (along with Miss Claudia) helped make returning to work a little easier.
Since Miss Elena is an artist, Zuri thought it would be fitting to paint her a picture.
We love you Miss Elena!!

First Date
On Saturday, Zuri was being a little stinker. She was giving everyone kisses BUT me!! Grandpa Cox (a/k/a Tickle Monster) came to visit. Zuri gave him kisses and even said "papaw"!!! It was the cutest thing ever.
After Grandpa Cox left and Zuri napped, we went to the stores to window shop for a new lawn mower. While we were at Menards, Zuri grabbed these two balls. She screamed when we tried to take them from her so we bought them. We have "sucka" tattooed on our foreheads. :) Anyway, even when she would drop one, she would scream. Here she is with them in the car. LOL
You know how I said Zuri would give everyone kisses but me on Saturday? Well, on Sunday when I was having ice cream, Zuri would not leave my side!!! She loves sweets.
I'm sure you're wondering about her first date. This morning at daycare, Zuri had a Cheerios date with Alex. Here she is trying to take some of his Cheerios.....or giving him some of her Cheerios....or trying to get his hand to hold?! Oh, and this wasn't technically their first date. They had a Cheerios date last week, but we did not get a picture of it.

Happy Mother's Day!
Brent and Zuri let me sleep an extra hour today!! That, itself, is an awesome gift! When I did get up, however, I was finally able to open Zuri's gift that she made for me at daycare. I absolutely LOVE it!
Zuri and I hung out and played while Brent mowed the grass. I'm pretty sure this is the cutest outfit ever.
Brent and Zuri decided to take me to Jockamo for lunch. Look what I got just for dining in on Mother's Day. I think Brent is jealous of my free shirt; not so much the rose. :o)
My second Mother's Day proved to be better than the first! My first Mother's Day was the day before I had to go back to work from maternity leave so I was a bit of a basket case.
I wanted to also show the nasty boo-boo that Zuri got last night. I'm not quite sure how she got it. All I know is she freaked out!! I didn't notice it at first. I was looking her over to see what was wrong and after a few minutes, saw this. :o(

14 months
1 year ago today, I celebrated 2 things: 1) my daughter turning 2 months old and 2) my graduation ceremony!
Today, my daughter is 14 months old. No graduation ceremony today, but we did get a visit from Grandpa Cox!
Dear Zuri Lane,
I cannot believe that 14 months have passed since you came into this world. You have grown so much. Not just physically, but mentally as well. The pictures in this post show the obvious physical changes. What they cannot show is how smart you are! You are walking all over the place now. You love to dance. You love to read your books. When we read "Bubbles Bubbles", you point to your nose and your hair at the appropriate times. It's so cute! You know where your belly button is (and are slightly obsessed with showing us). When we say "Let's wash your hands," you rub your hand together. In the tub, you will actually get suds on your hands and rub them together! Oh, and if we say "What's a doggy say," you start "barking". :)
I could go on and on about all the things you do that I find absolutely adorable but since I don't have all night to write, I'll stick with what I've said above.
I want to tell you how much I love seeing you and Grandpa Cox interact. Most people will tell you that Grandpa is a quiet and reserved man. He lights up like a Christmas tree when you are around! I almost think he may love you a little more than he loves me!! ;o) [Oh, and I'm sure I'll be hearing about this post tomorrow when he realizes I've not only put a picture of him in it, but also wrote about him!!]
Mommy and daddy love you very much and are truly blessed to have you in our lives. I've said it before, but it's worth repeating: I don't know what life was like before you were born. I never understood when other people said that. Of course there are times I would like to sleep past 7am. Is it worth giving up life with you in it? A.B.S.O.L.U.T.E.L.Y. N.O.T.!!! I would give up all the sleep in the world for you!!! Thankfully, you have made that not even part of the equation by being such a good sleeper. :)
We love you with all our hearts,
Mommy and Daddy.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Zuri is walking all over the place; sometimes trying to run! Her favorite thing to do right now, however, is to dance!! Enjoy these videos from today.
